Clubs and Groups Activities

Clubs and Groups activities with Fired 4 U

Do you have a group or organisation which would love to paint pottery or work with clay? You can either come to our studio or we can come to you.

We work with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs. Scouts and Explorer scouts in Lancashire. Also after school groups, support groups, Home education and Home schooled groups, Adults and Children with special needs, Womens groups (WI, Mothers Union, Walking groups, Women in Business etc). We often go out and do talks and demonstrations on what we do to groups.

We can come to you with prior arrangements as long as the group is 15+ and not more 30 minutes away from our studio. Further than this an alternative travelling time charge can be negotiated. We can bring a selection of paints with the pre booked pottery and run a session at your venue. Prices vary depending on numbers in your group and what you wish to paint.
The organiser will need to collect the pottery from the studio when it has been fired.

This tile picture was painted by a Leicestershire Scout district on their spring camp. We sketched the church and Gateway on from photos of their camp site. Then Scouts of all ages at the camp painted a tile. Each pack choose a leaf to do a stamp on their pack tile which makes up the border. The D.C. wrote a message on the tile at the bottom of the ‘frame’. This picture now sits on the wall in the church features in the picture.

At the session;
  • We provide all the necessary materials
  • Demonstrate how to do the activity for the session
  • We assist the young people as they do the activity
  • Leaders / helpers are required to supervise the group
  • After attending the art session each young person will have an individual work of art
  • Each session lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on age

FREE Gift to your group – each group will receive a commemorative plate as a thank you and a reminder of the fun you all had together. All present at the activity session will sign the plate and we paint your group logo and name on it too.

An example of the Gift plate from us to a Beavers group along side their bedroom door name plates – all very unique!

How to Book and Prices

To book please contact us

Pottery painting

This starts at £12 pp for 12 painters or more. This prices would give your group a choice of one from; a Mug, a Bowl, a Name plate or a beaker to choose from or a small plant pot. Assuming the whole group paint the same item. Christmas shaped items are available for Christmas sessions or other themed items are possible

Clay sessions

This is using fired clay and is  £25pp which requires 2 sessions: one for making the item and then we have to let it dry and then fire it. After which you can return at 2 weeks after the making session to do the painting session. If the item created is straight forward and does not have fiddly bits on it. We can then look at reducing the visit to one session and painting it at the same time but this does make the session much longer. Younger children struggle with concentration doing a longer session so please give this consideration.
The cost does not change with one visit.

We are happy to work with a theme or different suggestion on the item and can advise on price depending on the item required.

What Our Customers Say

We came again as we were extremely happy with last visit – girls enjoyed it and gained craft badge. This time we thought we’d do something different doing the copper enameling. The activity can cover some clauses of our ‘go for it’s’. You make it an interesting evening for the girls.

Brownies and Guides love Fired 4 U!
Each time our pack visits Jane and co we find that Brownies who have never tried pottery painting before are excited to learn a new skill and those Brownies and Guides (and Leaders!) who are becoming seasoned pottery painters are always eager to develop their skills and learn new techniques.
However, the Brownies and Guides would all tell you that the very best part is opening their individually wrapped masterpieces a week later and finding out how even what they thought were mistakes are a unique piece of art when it has been “Fired 4 U”!

We like to do a different and interesting activity near the start of the autumn term as it helps get all the young people back into Beavers after the Summer Break. We had heard of Fired 4 U through local community events and also from other Scout Groups who had recommended the sessions to us, so we thought we’d give it a try this year.
Charnock Richard Beavers group said they chose to have a session with us;

Our Fired 4 U session was excellent. The Beavers had a brilliant time and all worked really hard at coming up with their own design for their mugs -as well as earning their Creative Activity Badge. It was a really stress free evening for our leaders as we only had to set up the tables and chairs and supervise, as Jane and her team brought everything with them! A brilliant session that was good value and we’d certainly do it again.
Following the session with Charnock Richard Beavers they said,

A thoroughly enjoyable evening; The girls were so excited and were given freedom with their designs and choice of colours and artist tools. The evening was rounded off with a glazing demonstration. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back again.

What a great evening! The mug painting captured both their attention and their imagination. I’ve never known them so quiet.
